A Fort Wayne woman and girl have been identified as the victims of a Saturday night crash on Interstate 69 in northern Allen County, the county coroner°®¶¹app™s office said Monday.
Jaiden Samaria Marquis Newbolt, 25, and Nalani Ella Ervins, 6, both died accidentally from multiple blunt force injuries because of the crash, the coroner°®¶¹app™s office said in a statement.
About 8 p.m., sheriff°®¶¹app™s deputies were called to a crash scene on I-69 near Vandolah Road. Officers and medics located an SUV with damage and five people with injuries, Sgt. Adam Griffith, a public information officer, said in a news release.
A preliminary investigation showed the SUV was southbound on the interstate when it left the road for unknown reasons. The SUV struck the guardrail and rolled.
Two occupants were ejected from the vehicle, and both were pronounced deceased at the scene, the release said.
Three other occupants were taken to a hospital after the crash. An adult and a juvenile were both in serious condition, while another juvenile was in serious to critical condition, the release said.
Newbolt and Nalani are the 36th and 37th people to die in vehicle crashes in the county so far this year, the statement said.The crash remains under investigation by county police, the county prosecutor°®¶¹app™s office and the coroner°®¶¹app™s office.
