Headwaters Park ice rink opens for the season in downtown Fort Wayne
Saturday was opening day for the ice rink at Headwaters Park, 333 S. Clinton St.
Gabe Moussou and Alexus Voltaire enjoy an afternoon of ice skating on Saturday afternoon, the opening day of the Headwaters Park ice rink. The rink is open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. After Jan. 6, the rink will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. It will also be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years Day. Admission is $6 for skaters ages 3 and over, and free for skaters ages 2 and under. Skate rentals are $3. Special programming planned for December includes 80s Night, Skate it off (Taylor’s version) and Holiday Cheer. Fresh themes, skating demonstrations, and a meet-and-greet with a special guest character are planned for January and February. Thanks to a donation by Marcia and Grant Crawford, reduced admission skating and rental opportunities will be available in January and February to celebrate the memory and community service of Dr. John Crawford, a physician, radiation oncologist, and 20-year Fort Wayne City Council member.
